Helen has enjoyed a long career in art and design (both graphic & garden) following a BA Hons degree from Norwich School of Art (1979 - 1982). After training in horticulture (2000-2003) at the Colleges of West Anglia & Writtle, she wrote and illustrated for national garden magazines. She began oil painting under the expert guidance of Tony Rothon and Sarah Nutley at their art school on the Audley End Estate. Helen lives and works from her studio by the sea in Walberswick, Suffolk, having moved during the lockdown of 2020. She was Artist in Residence at Darsham Nurseries 2017/18

'Helen is apt to bring a sense of immediacy to the canvas, whether working from her seaside studio or plain air in the Suffolk landscape. Her oils, which may feature floral patterns from a vintage quilt, quirky buildings from the village where she lives, or potted geraniums from the garden she loves, all seem to invite us to enjoy the overlapping experience.'

The imposing of order and structure on nature has always been a fascination.
